personal details:
For the last 20 years I have worked in the legal profession. Lawyers are notoriously sedentary and stressed. We think about minutiae, worry about missing deadlines, forget to eat regularly and feel bad if we are caught going out for a bit of fresh air and exercise at lunchtime.
When I emigrated to Australia 11 years ago, I was unfit and overweight with terrible eating habits, sporadic exercise habits and an anger management problem.
In my first year in Australia I discovered yoga and pilates. For the first time in my life I found that I enjoyed exercise, looked forward to it, became energised by it.
After my son was born, I went through a fairly stressful period in my life and while I maintained my yoga asana practice, my meditation practice and my pilates practice fell by the wayside. When my daughter was born just over 3 years ago, I decided that I had to prioritise my fitness, health and wellbeing. Children take up an enormous amount of energy and you need to be fit to deal with their myriad needs and demands.
Quro was the only dedicated pilates studio that offered childminding. I decided to try a free class.
Having had a fair amount experience practising Pilates and believing that I had residual strength I was quietly confident at the start of that first class that I would be able to get through it reasonably easily. To say that I was shocked and surprised at the physical and mental discipline that it took for me to complete that class would be an understatement. I had never worked so hard in a Pilates class before. I couldn’t walk down the stairs afterwards. A week later muscles that I didn’t know I had were still complaining happily in my legs, arms and back. I was hooked. But on a side note I would advise to follow the advice of the Quro staff who encourage you to take it easy in the first class and not to try too hard.
What I find so appealing about the way that Quro teaches pilates and yoga is the level of mind/body connection that clients are encouraged to achieve in classes.
For that reason, when I was offered the chance to train as an instructor, I jumped at the chance. Personally, I learn something new about myself and my body with every class I teach and every class that I participate in.
For someone like me who spends so much time thinking and reading and writing and worrying, I find pure joy and release in physical movement and in the meditative stillness that follows the exertion of a Quro class. If I can help others achievea bit of that joy and release, I have succeeded as a teacher. It’s a wonderful journey that I have embarked on and one that, I think, makes me a better parent and a much happier person! I recently decided to leave the practice of law to become a full time member of the Quro Education team. As a result, I understand what it is like to go through a sea change

As somebody who loves travelling and seeing all parts of the world and somebody who also wanted to develop themselves within the health and fitness industry as an extra skill set to my career within promotions and marketing I am very excited at the oppourtunity to travel and learn to deepen my understanding within my personal practice of pilates and yoga on a Quro education course within an exotic location like the Maldives. To me life is all about learning to enjoy the journey in every aspect. Quro education courses are helping me to achieve this.

Unfortunately a back injury cut my Ballet career short and was forced into the work force. During this time I went on a journey and learnt to be in my body in a different way. Yoga and Pilates has been a staple for me since a young age but during this time it become something different for me. Yoga became a spiritual and emotional healing process as I slowly started rehabbing not only my body but also my mind. Then I discovered Quro and made a conscious decision to have a sea change and invested into myself in Quro education courses.
A year later I have a certificate in Essential Mat, Essential Reformer, Essential Yoga, Essential Vibration training, Essential Traditional Room, Essential Parent and child yoga, Essential Vertical Pilates (ballet basics), and an official Zumba instructor’s certificate.
I have also traveled to Singapore and received a certificate in Schema therapy. Completed Certificate four in training and assessment and am now regularly teaching teachers. In 2011 I am completing all Intermediate level courses and looking forward to going on my first international teacher-training course. I am deeply appreciating my Quro journey and the changes it has made to my life.

From time to time in everyone’s life we go through major changes. This can be through relationships, this can also be through careers. Where possible my goals are to try and make these changes to be something that increases the value of my life.
As someone who has been in the corporate world and has had ownership in small business, I’m totally inspired with the vision I have within Quro. Being an instructor of exercise modalities and part of Quro management, I am endeavoring to become an owner of a Quro health studio.
